A Ray of Hope for Chakreshwara Goswami

Jul 20, 2010 — INDIA (SUN) — The assembled Vaishnavas don't see Chakreshwara Goswami's recent article, "Bhakti Caru's Planned Conference Minimizes the Pure Devotee" as a blatant and despicable act of Vaishnava aparadh (which of course it is). We see this as a desperate last cry for help from a tortured misguided soul. He may not even be aware that he is one step away from completely destroying his spiritual life.
Of course, if he has been reading Srila Prabhupada's books, then there is NO QUESTION that he would understand this. He is simply unleashing a mad elephant into his garden that will devastate his tender devotional creeper. Perhaps he is unaware that HH Bhakti Caru Swami is very dear to Prabhupada, and has for years sacrificed everything to preach the glories of the Holy Name for the pleasure of Srila Prabhupada, and the eternal benefit of uncountable millions of conditioned souls.
If he was aware how deeply Prabhupada loves HH Bhakti Caru Swami, and all devotees who have given their lives for the propagation of the Holy Name, he would not dare blaspheme him.
He definitely is unaware that, if he simply contacted HH Bhakti Caru Swami privately and made his observations, then Bhakti Caru Swami would undoubtedly thank him profusely and work hard to correct whatever inadvertent mistakes his disciples might have made in the course of enthusiastic preaching efforts. If he approached HH Bhakti Caru Swami according to standard Vaishnava etiquette, he would quickly find out that Bhakti Caru Swami Maharaj never tolerates any minimizing of Srila Prabhupada's position.
Obviously, the goswami was not aware of all these things. But a plea of ignorance will not save a devotee from the Mad Elephant Offence. We have seen many stalwart Vaishnavas blasted out of blissful Krsna consciousness simply because they did not take seriously the danger of Vaishnava Aparadh. Therefore, we understand that Chakreshwara Goswami's apparently despicable diatribe, full of sadhu ninda, is actually a pathetic call for help.

1. Understand your fallen and precarious position. If this is not clear, wipe all the dust off your Bhagavatam and start reading

Once you understand how close you are to destroying your spiritual life, immediately rush to the lotus feet of HH Bhakti Caru Swami and all the other Vaishnavas you have offended (the typical aparadhaholic is almost always a repeat offender). With heartfelt tears, offer your sincere apologies and beg for the mercy of the Vaishnavas you have offended. Being soft hearted, these Vaishnavas will certainly be merciful unto you. Be aware that all the Vaishnavas you have blasphemed feel no enmity or hatred towards you – in fact all the devotees will embrace you in love.
3. The envious mentality can creep back into the heart at any moment. An aparadhaholic should understand that this tendency must be fought every day. The only sure medicine is to humbly serve the devotees every day of your life. Remember, you are one act of blasphemy away from destroying what is most dear to you.
4. Remember that we are here to serve you. We want to see you become a strong humble devotee.
