All the Hoopla
BY: PRAGHOSA DASA (ACBSP)
Jun 28, NEW YORK (SUN) I compose this in response to all the hoopla that has been generated by Rocana Prabhu and the many devotees who have "demanded" that Indradyumna Swami respond to their discussions amongst themselves on the Internet about his writings and activities.
First to Janardana prabhu and Mother Rasarani devi:
My simple point which apparently I did not make clear is that Rocana prabhu expressed his own dissatisfaction with the Diary of Indradyumna Swami. He gave his various reasons. He did not address these concerns to Maharaja directly in confidence as a friend or brother. He chose to make an issue of them in public - justifying this course of action as merely a result of the fact that it was Maharaja himself who made his Diary public.
I personally do not hold such actions in high esteem. If one attacks another's character or actions, I personally hold a man accountable to first address the man or woman with whom he is soooooo concerned - personally. THIS is what I meant when I said "man to man". I believe that Rocana's method lacks courage and integrity. It smacks of exploitation. "If it bleeds - it reads" is the motto of most modern journalists. This type of public display of "outrage" is couched in feigned "concern" for the Swami's spiritual future, or the reputation of Srila Prabhupada's mission. But if Rocana or any of you had not first taken the time to simply compose a sincere letter of concern - or even outrage over this or that prior to making this a public issue - then I am sorry but I just don't accept your conduct as anything less than a lusty indulgence in fault-finding and gossip masquerading as sincere concern. It is all show.
Remember this whole thing started with Rocana's analysis of the Diary. I merely said that the Swami was free to provide the public with an accounting of the events of his preaching and any realizations he may have felt worth sharing. To extrapolate that this means I place all writing on an equal scale, etc. is just plain weird. I merely stated that both Rocana and the Swami write about what they each personally value in Krsna Consciousness. The "market" will accept or reject it. That is the sum and substance of my basic comments.
Now perhaps all of you who are soooooo concerned for the spiritual future of HH Indradyumna.Swami@pamho.net - in the interest of keeping this simple - take the time to compose a simple letter and express your concerns to him directly.
That goes for Vishwambara Das as well, as he is an old friend of Maharaja.
Respectfully,
Praghosa Das
