The Pot Calling the Kettle Black
BY: B. RADHA-GOVINDA
Mar 09, 2011 USA (SUN) Reading over Krsnasmarana(m?) prabhu's submission, "Romapada Swami Tries to Discredit Bhakti Tirtha Maharaj", let me say that in my directly having served under Bhaktitirtha Swami for so many years in Africa, I know factually that despite his having a "sweet tongue," talking about "love" and all the nice things he would speak about, he is not the "nice, sweet" person, he would portray himself to be to devotees through his words. Serving directly under a person (for years), and directly seeing their deeds, one gets to really know a person. I know that some other devotees who have served directly under Bhaktitirtha - if they would have the courage to speak up with what they directly told me regarding their direct experiences with Bhaktitirtha - would agree with me; that he isn't the "saint" devotees who don't truly know him think he was.
Whether devotees like to hear it or not, although certainly Bhaktitirtha Swami was possessed of charisma, intelligence, and charm, in certain cases he used these, or just his own position, or some other faculty at hand, to manipulate, exploit, and even abuse devotees. I know this factually. For his own non-Krsna conscious, materialistic reasons, Bhaktitirtha had devotees beaten and I allege, even killed so he could keep covered up his deviations from the regulative principles. This is specifically in regards to a long-term illicit relationship he was having with one of our Godsisters.
Bhaktitirtha in 1987 told me that he "hated" Romapada - used that exact word - and said "He's weird." At that time I didn't ask Bhaktitirtha why he was saying these things. I simply, as a subordinate, "gave him my ear."
What investigation Romapada was "heading up" I don't know, but the GBC in the 1990's was definitely aware of at least some of Bhaktitirtha's definite deviations, including his involvement in illicit sex with various women, and taking of drugs. More can be said, but I'm not going to bother with it. Generally devotees don't want to hear the truth about their "heros," call the person speaking the truth "an 'aparadhi'" and/or accuse them of committing the first offense against the chanting of the Holy Name.
There is even a question regarding the book scores that were attributed to Ghanasyam's, (BT's former name) book distribution, some devotees connected with the party have reported that BT would go to a professor, distribute a set of books - making that professor think he was getting the set for free! - but when the bill came, the books were sent back by the professor. (I was told this by a few devotees who were connected with the party. I myself do not have direct knowledge.)
I know directly the dishonesty of Bhaktitirtha Swami, as well as his exploitive and abusive nature, his lack of scruples, and out and out ruthlessness.
Regarding Romapada's and Bhaktitirtha's dealings with one another, about which you are writing, this is a case of the pot calling the kettle black. And if the person writing this article is Krsna Smarana(m) who is living in the Alachua apartments, who is originally from Trinidad, and was living for years in NYC, you are not an honest person either. Between your lying to devotees, cheating them for their money, and doing a lot worse - which I'm sparing your reputation by not saying here on this forum. If you are that Krsna Smaranam, you know what means the "doing a lot worse," and why you had to leave NYC.
You wrote in your article, "Srila Prabhupada writes that a brahmana or sannyasi should be straightforward in all his dealings. He should be straightforward in dealing even with an enemy, what to speak of with a godbrother like Bhakti Tirtha Swami," so I'm writing straightforwardly, in all regards, including calling you out, but withholding the more "nasty" details regarding yourself.
If you are the Krsna Smaranam originally from Trinidad, living in the Alachua Apartments, then you know what I've written here is applicable to you.
