The Chicago Cloud

BY: ADI PURUSA DAS

Feb 20, 2011 — CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, USA (SUN) — There is a great dark cloud covering the Chicago Temple, which has only grown larger with the passing years. In a wonderful city full of endless people, the Chicago ISKCON Temple poorly reflects the mood of Srila Prabhupada's divine movement, instead projecting a cold shadow of ritual devotees and Indian management and congregation.

Ultimately, the longtime reigning GBC, Romapada Swami, and head Chandramauli Swami have been a reason and source of disillusionment, and their removal is vital to revealing the actual blissful experience of the Sankirtan Movement. The presiding Deities were installed by the infamous Kirtanananda Swami, who then in 1986 gave sannyasa-order to Chandramauli Swami, who runs the Prison Ministry in connection with Tirtha das.

In reality, the Chicago sannyasis are very unattractive in their presentation, kirtan, and lectures. Furthermore, under their direction, for the last 15 years the Chicago Temple has been managed by Indian devotees whose aim is to develop the Indian/Hindu congregation, with no focus on sharing the wonderful Sankirtan movement with the unlimited Chicago people.

Every Sunday, Krishna sends some new people, who never come back or ever get into Krishna Consciousness, thus the great ominous cloud has stunted the growth of bhakti. In the last 5 years there has been only one devotee join the Temple. Under the elderly swamis, there is the Temple Commander senior M.C. and youth J.J., both flamboyant black-body individuals who unfortunately in the end are doing less good than harm, and are both unadmitted homosexuals hiding behind brahmacari. Thus women devotees are not put into the proper balance.

Some ISKCON temples are run by demons who have joined the Sankirtan movement of Srila Prabhupada. As everyone is attracted to Krishna, certainly all types of persons become devotees, and the positions of power become filled with the corrupters of Kali-Yuga. Srila Prabhupada accepted, loved and perceived his followers as devotees of Krishna, regardless of material condition. Therefore even great demons were accepted.

Behind the cloud ever shines the light of Srila Prabhupada and Krishna, as devotees of all ISKCON temples must realize the potential and possibilities beyond the foreboding covering, and cast away this darkness…
