Feb 15, 2013 CANADA (SUN) As part of its "82nd & Fifth" exhibition, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York is featuring a well-known 16th Century painting of Lord Krishna. The watercolor, entitled "Krishna Holds Up Mount Govardhan to Shelter the Villagers of Braj", is a folio from the Harivamsa (1590–95).
The "82nd & Fifth" exhibition is a year-long online multimedia series featuring 100 works of art. The series launched on January 31st. Each of the featured artworks is presented with an audio-visual essay and a digital interactive feature that allows you to view the object in great detail.
After listening to Curator Navina Haidar's video describing the history of this much-loved illustration from Harivamsa, visitors can enjoy clicking deep into the painting's details, to see all the wonderful faces of the residents of Vraja.
