Where is the Sad-guru?

BY: RAMA DASA

Oct 19, 2012 — USA (SUN) — No offense to anyone, however again we are putting up the case for women, "The Unfair Sex". The case in point still stands: guru must be a "self-realized soul", or at least very high madhyam - ashakti - that is the topmost level of madhyam; low level madhyam cannot be guru in the real sense. How can they manifest the divya jnana in the disciples heart? Therefore male or female, it does not matter. Hence best is a self-realized soul!!!

Therefore, how do we tell if someone is a self-realized soul, by taking a test. I don't think so! You cannot test someone and then see if they are a self-realized soul. What are the symptoms? Do you know them? Can you see them?

There have been very few female gurus in our line: Gangamata Goshwamini, Jahnava Mata the wife of Lord Nityananda, anyone else...?

It is definitely not a question of votes for guru male or female. Gangamata Goshwamini and Jahnava Mata are on the highest level of prema-bhakti.

The line is, in general, for some reason, males; acaryas.

Therefore, how do we know if you are a self-realized soul, again I say, do we take a test??? The test does not work, so many have been tested and have fallen down. Do I need to list all the stats? For that, that is a Rtvik thing is it not?

Hence, if we are to become the positive alternative, we need to present real gurus, natural gurus, not tested as we are testing them with our defective senses. It is not that there are many, many acaryas on the planet at one time. There is the case of Srila Jagannatha dasa Babaji Maharaja, who was on the planet at the same time as Srila Gaura Kishore dasa babaji Maharaja, who was on the planet at the same time as Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura, and of course Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Prabhupada was also on the planet at the same time, from what I can glean from reading their life stories, they all met at one time or another.

Hence four Acaryas in our line were on the planet at the same time and in amongst this "Abhay Charan De", His Divine Grace Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada took his birth whilst three of these Acaryas were still on the planet [please correct me if I am not correct here]. However there is no record of many, many gurus at one time. Sixty gurus, seventy gurus, eighty gurus, ninety gurus; 'do I hear 100 gurus', 'yes from the gentleman in the back seat with the blue jacket, 100 gurus', 'do I have 101 gurus', going once, going twice...? Sounds absurd however that is what we are presenting. Not possible.

Then the general comment is, by the rank and file, gurus, 'that we are only handing the karma of our disciples to Prabhupada'. Sounds like a Christian thing. All the karma goes to Jesus. All the karma goes to Prabhupada and then we have no guru for 2,000 years and then where does that leave the sampradaya. It leaves it in the hands of conditioned souls that are fraught with the four defects and the four anarthas. Tested gurus that fall down. I may add the Rtviks also are conditioned souls. No offense to them either, however they are conditioned.

Of course, I could be wrong, the sampradaya may have stopped. I am a conditioned soul, however there seems to be a certain symmetry in the Gaudiya Vaisnava line. There is a line of Acaryas and they come and they inspire from within, not without. Inspiration does not come from having big big buildings, many followers and money in the bank; inspiration comes from purity, purity is the force, and by that purity the conditioned souls can have tusthi and pusthi, nourisment and satisfaction. Spiritual nourishment and spiritual satisfaction, which far exceeds any material or so-called spiritual accomplishment.

Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura Goswami Prabhupada has said:

"This line of guru-parampara is existing up to today without any break and it will continue to exist like this in the future also. To say, 'There is no sad-guru living in the world at present and neither will there be any in the future,' is an atheistic opinion." (The True Conception of Guru)

So where is he? Where is the sad-guru? How do we see him?

Your servant,
Rama dasa
