ISKCON "Authority"

And while we're on the subject of ISKCON authority…
I would like to share once again these two little gems that came straight from the vyasasana during the Srimad Bhagavatam class at ISKCON's Bhaktivedanta Manor.
For those of you out there who consider this repetitive… well, you're darned right…
but…
it shows the mindset of some of our local er... leaders.
The first one must be the most classic of all time:
"We should all do what the temple authorities tell us to do… even if we know it's wrong… because… this would please Srila Prabhupada."
Fantastic.
Basically this means...
knowing our ISKCON history…
murder…sodomize...take drugs…prostitute the women…beat the heck out of the kids…in fact, do practically anything.
But…
it's all OK.
because using this ISKCON managerial logic…
we would be "pleasing Srila Prabhupada".
And the second came from the lips of Abhay das (now swami… disciple of ISKCON guru Radhanatha):
"The GBC are the ultimate managerial authority in ISKCON, therefore anyone who is against the GBC is against Srila Prabhupada."
Nectar bliss... knowing our ISKCON GBC history... ditto the above.
Someone please tell me…
Are we all supposed to become brain dead in ISKCON?
Just who up there has the shared ISKCON brain cell today?
Now...
one would have hoped a senior member of ISKCON management would have said something at the 'any questions or comments' section at the end of the class.
Perhaps the temple president or even a department head…
but…
need I say more…
there was nobody there.
