What the Ladies Meant to Say Was....
BY: JANMASTAMI DAS
Feb 26, WEST VIRGINIA, USA (SUN) With all of Srila Prabhupada's instructions on women as trustworthy leaders (see Srila Prabhupada's letter, 14 March, 1967:
"A female is never awarded the order of Sannyasam. Because a female is never considered independent and Sannyasam was never awarded to any female in the past by the great Acaryas like Sankara, Ramanuja etc. The female Sannyasins are to be immediately understood as pretenders or prostitutes. In India they have organized so many organizations where specially young females are maintained to attract rich women-hunters who pretend to pose as righteous in the society."),
...is it any wonder that the GBC in their finite wisdom has seen fit not only to endorse the "tear down the Palace, it's too expensive to maintain" mentality that one of Kirtanananda's woman sannyassis has recently published, but to encourage those other of K swa's most loyal woman followers to also speak their minds.
Democracy and political correctness has become at least an unstated objective, as the GBC decided to follow the lead set by K swa in appointing women to important leadership positions. When you don't know where you are going, any road will take you there, and thus ISKCON proudly proclaims the elevation of Dina Sharana dd, another of K swa's "swami mommies", to a leadership role in ISKCON. What harm can come from such a decision?
After all, wasn't it Dina Sharana dd who has overseen the attempts to collect more funds to "save the German yatra" by soliciting devotee donations to pay for their current budget excesses? If her "talents" can still be used to collect laxmi, even if it is only from the devotees and not from outsiders, isn't she "a true leader" amongst the ISKCON elite?
Most are scarcely able to pay for their own upkeep, what to speak of the excesses that are indulged by an out of control fiscal spending policy. Where is that sanyassini, Guru, or other spiritual leader in ISKCON who has forsaken their own travel budget and maintenance expenses until the local Deities and temple are doing nicely? They would be willing to speak to all the vocal opponents of "increased spending on Gurudev's every need", but unfortunately they have travelled on to that next travel itinerary stop, and the maha plate that they so regularly imbibe.
Malati has taken time off from her researching and assisting Tom Drescher's (Tirtha Swami, Sulocana's assassin) writing campaign, to be able to assist her old homegirl from the lady sannyassi days at New Vrindaban Community in diversifying the face of ISKCON's Good Old Boys Club. One can only dream of the variety of soliciting schemes these two former K swa aides will be able to envision. With the annual devastation time has wrecked on Prabhupada's Palace about to be scraped from the remainder of the rumble, another tourist season approaches, and if these ladies learned anything under K swa's (and now Radhanath's) direction, it was to never give a devotee an even break. If they had all the money that they spend annually trying to paint crumbling concrete each spring, they could use that money to travel to Mayapur each spring to prove that they are deserving of all the adoration they have sought for themselves. Oh, wait, that is what they do with the money every spring. Don't we still have some of that paint from last year left over? Did we use all of that? And so the process continues....
