A "Sign of Compromise" in Guyana

BY: SUN STAFF

Jan 07, 2012 — GUYANA (SUN) —

At New Navadvipa Mandir in Main Stay, Essequibo Coast – the only ISKCON temple in the region – we have reports of an unfortunate lowering of standards. This billboard, which conveys a mundane advertisement in bold print, is reportedly located just on the edge of, but actually on, the temple property.

The company behind this advertising effort is Shivan International India, owned by Indian businessman, Vinod Kumar Gupta.

Gupta, a Delhi entrepreneur, has for several years now been employing a strategy to showcase consumer products to the Guyanese. Apparently neither he nor the ISKCON Guyana temple managers understand that advertising Indian tea outside the temple front door is not appropriate.

Hopefully Tridandi das, ISKCON's Deputy GBC for Guyana, will set the situation right.
